Laws and Regulations for Wilderness Therapy Programs in Illinois

All residential camps in Illinois must have a license issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Division of Environmental Health. As with many other states, Illinois camps must perform a criminal background check on all staff members. The state of Illinois has an administrative code that regulates the operations of teen camps, that includes general requirements like minimum daily water supply (Section 810.40), proper food service and amounts (Section 810.60) and first aid and safety (Section 810.90).

Other regulations for teen camps include annual inspections by the proper authorities (210 ILCS 100/7) and there are also several penalties for any violations.
