Idaho Regulatory Laws

Idaho Code 39-1210 sets the standards for all residential care facilities for children and teens in the state. These facilities are licensed by the Idaho Department of Health and welfare, and they must meet the minimum requirements for intake, physical and emotional care and background checks on all employees, for example. Idaho private schools are not required to be licensed by a state agency, nor must they be registered or approved. Accreditation is optional (Idaho Code §33-119). State certification is a requirement for teachers at private schools (Idaho Code §33-1201) and criminal background checks are required for all employees (Idaho Code §39-1105(3).
