Wyoming Regulatory Laws
Residential treatment facilities, wilderness programs and more are licensed and regulated by the Wyoming Department of Family Services.
Only licensing is mandatory with Wyoming private schools—no accreditation or approval is needed. To become licensed, the private school must earn one from the Wyoming Department of Education and meet minimum standards of instruction and performance (W.S. §21-2-401(c). Religious and church schools are exempt from these provisions (W.S. §21-2-406(a)(i)(A). Teacher certification is not mandatory for private schools. Wyoming private schools are not required to participate in core testing, either.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE

Approximately 9.9 percent of adolescents in Wyoming, age 12-17, experiment with illicit drugs monthly. Just over 7.2% regularly use marijuana and 5.1 percent use other types of illicit drugs.
