Liahona Treatment Center is a fully accredited residential treatment center founded in 2001. Currently, Liahona Treatment Center has four locations throughout Utah. On average, there are 49 students enrolled annually. Program directors focus on helping to improve the lives of teen boys through a variety of therapy treatments and programs.

Therapy Treatments & Program Overview

Liahona Treatment Center uses therapy modalities including; cognitive-behavioral techniques, biofeedback/relaxation training, experiential, insight-oriented, solution-oriented, cognitive development, 12 steps, reality therapy, and motivational interviewing.

Programs for teen boys include a combination of the following:

  • Individualized Academic Instruction – Students are given personalized programs designed to improve academic performance. The program is state-accredited, and credits can transfer back to traditional school upon completion.
  • Individual and Group Therapy with Licensed Therapists – Students are evaluated and given personalized treatment to improve and understand their behaviors. Each student will receive individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is used to help students understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT has been proven to help individuals manage substance abuse and stress and improve social communication.
  • Personal Development – Youth are taught to manage behavioral disorders and learn social and leadership skills.
  • Daily Behavior Evaluations – Youth are taught to take responsibility for their actions and given daily evaluations to progress toward goals.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – DBT is used in conjunction with CBT to help students with suicidal ideation, self-harm, and strong mental health illnesses and behaviors. DBT helps students understand how to manage their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
  • Creative Art Therapy – Liahona Treatment Center offers creative art therapy to help youth express themselves and develop creativity. Creative arts help students express thoughts and feelings in a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Daily Physical Fitness & Training – Students participate in strengthening the mind/body connection through movement exercises. Students can access large outdoor spaces for sports and track and field needs. 
  • Nutritional Education – Students will be taught about the importance of nutrition and how it impacts the mind/body connection. Nutritious meals are served daily to help teen boys’ overall health and wellness. 
  • Weekly Health Evaluation – Youth are given a weekly evaluation by in-house medical staff to ensure physical health.
  • Weekly Leadership Training – Teen boys are taught to be leaders in social groups and learn to care for their community. 
  • Group Activities – Liahona Treatment Center believes in helping students thrive by introducing various group activities, including a trip to Zion National Park. 
  • Weekly Service Projects – Youth are given opportunities to participate in various community projects.
