CALO is a residential treatment center that works exclusively with adopted teenagers and the unique challenges they face. Among the conditions that adopted teens face are reactive attachment disorder and developmental trauma disorder, depression, lack of basic coping skills, behavioral and emotional challenges, and the results of abuse or neglect. Blending effective therapy plans, such as adventure therapy, canine therapy, traditional therapy and an emphasis on academics, qualified staff members provide a holistic healing approach for each teen. CALO features a separate 48-bed teen boys program and a 32-bed teen girls program.
Licensed Faculty at School
Among the faculty and staff at CALO, there are licensed social workers with master’s degrees, clinical therapists with master’s degrees, therapists with master’s of education counseling and therapists with master’s degrees in professional counseling.
Student Activities Available
Activities at CALO are designed to keep teens fit and healthy physically, and give them boosts of self esteem and success in achieving goals. Students train for a 100-mile bike ride, and in the meantime can participate on a ropes course, fish, canoe, swim, wakeboard, ski, wake-skate and wake surf.
